Steve Jobs has achieved some incredible things in developing Apple plus he has impacted billions of peoples lives and made an absolute fortune doing it.

That is what is so amazing about the fitness industry, we get to inspire and make a massive difference too.

You always hear there is no need to reinvent the wheel, find someone that inspires you, someone who has done what you want to do and apply their ideas and strategies into your  business.

Here are some of Steve’s life lessons and how you can apply them to your fitness business.

1. Follow Your Heart

If you are in the fitness industry and would prefer to be doing something else then go and do it.

With passion comes purpose which then equals amazing results that you create for both yourself and your clients.

Trust me when I say people can tell when you are passionate about helping them.

Have a really good think about what inspires and drives you to get out of bed everyday. Work fills up most of your time and the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

Many personal trainers ask me is it ok to change their direction and focus on another target market, of course! Life is all about learning and it is these steps that lead you to a much bigger picture.

If you don’t know what your passion is,  don’t settle for second best, keep looking.

2. Make A Dent

Stop limiting your imagination, think BIG BIG picture.

Most personal trainer dream to small.

Focus on making a making a massive impact and the money follows.

So many times I have heard personal trainers say when I focus on the money business went downhill.  When I diverted my energy and focus into actioning how can I provide massive value to my clients then the business did a complete change and boomed.

A huge lesson, please take that on board.

3. Think Different

We all know that there are so many personal trainers out there.

To succeed you must remember to be totally different to that personal trainer or studio down the road.

If they do something, stop copying, do the exact opposite.

Talk to people.

Get out and stop being in front of your computer.

Experiment.

Look at what other businesses do and ask yourself how you can implement that into your business.

That is what is going to make you stand out.

4. Sell Dreams

For fitness businesses you need to sell the result of what your clients are wanting to achieve.

Clients don’t want to lose weight, they want to be able to play with their kids and fit into their clothes.

So focus on selling the playing with the kids, fitting into clothes, looking good on the beach in summer.

Be the solution, be the personal trainer who helps clients achieve results and do it with integrity and professionally.

Also it is very important to remember clients don’t care until they know how much you care about them.

Your clients dream of a happier life and better life.

Enrich their lives.

5. Say NO 

Every single day opportunitues will come across your desk.

Please don’t say yes to everything. If it does not fit within your big picture vision then say no, it is ok!

When you focus only then can you concentrate on the things that matter most to you.

6. Keep it Simple

Do I need say anymore?

You have to work hard to making it simple, when you do the sky’s the limit.

7. Strive For Excellence

Be the quality personal training business.

Stop just doing ‘enough’ to get the sale, stop doing ‘just enough’ to keep the clients.

Go above and beyond on what you do and provide for your clients.

Be that personal trainer who remembers birthdays, focuses on their results, provides them with a ton of value to blow them away.

8. Break the Rules

This is what makes you stand out!

Push beyond what you think it impossible.

These are the trainers that always question the so called rules.

These are the  trainers that are crazy enough to think they can change the world, there are also the ones that usually do!

9. You Only Live Once

If today was the last day of your life what would you be doing.

Life is way to short, do the things you love and love the things you do.

What ever your situation at the moment. Whether you are a personal training studio owner, gym manager, outdoor group fitness instructor who juggles sessions around the children then this is a great road map to success.

While you organise your business on your MacBook, chat to your client on your iPhone, go for a run with your iPod and check your updates with your iPad the impact Steve Jobs has made far outweights the devices he has created.
