Yesterday I took my 18mth old to get his first haircut. How many hairdressers would there be on the Gold Coast? Heaps especially around my area. I had heard of this salon that caters for children and happened to be driving past it and stopped to check them out. What they did and how they did it was amazing. When we walked in the girls acknowledged that we were new customers and asked was this Lachlan’s first haircut, they then asked what was his favorite TV show and from the shelf picked out a DVD for him to watch whilst getting his hair cut, they also got 5 books that made animal noises and some flashing, bright noisy toy to keep him entertained.
She asked how he would like his hair cut and since it was his first cut he wasn’t to keen on the whole idea, he didn’t want the cape on and she didn’t force it, she was very friendly, smiled and most important – quick!
After she styled and waxed his hair I went up to pay and they had taken a photo of him and made a certificate congratulating him on his first haircut plus popped some of his hair in a small sealed bag as a momento and gave him a lucky dip from the treasure box! WOW, she then asked how did you hear about us and recorded what I said!
Now I live in Hope Island and will now travel to Mermaid Waters which takes me about 25 minutes just to get his haircut at this place because of this special experience.
What do you do that is so unique which makes your clients tell everyone they know about the experience they receive from you? What makes your clients say wow and makes them want to drive longer than 7 minutes just to see you. What makes YOU different from every other personal trainer?

Kel, I am presuming this is your 18 month old and not Jeff’s! Thanks so much for sharing – awesome to hear and what a WOW service!
Certainly given me food for thought on our game.

Boom!!! How awesome is that…what an unbelievable experience…
and that is exactly how we as Pt’s & fitness professionals should be every single time a client walks in the door….
I want to go to that hairdresser… do they accept the ‘young at heart’ as children??? I’m a child at heart… I WANT IN!!!
Awesome points at the end…
You’ve got to be rememberable (in a good way). Stand out, WOW them and make them miss you when they’re gone…
I love it Jeff
