<p style="text-align: justify;">The sad thing is that this is happening all the time. Every week a personal trainer will email me and ask me to look at their website to find out why they are not generating leads or enquiries from it.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Now I don&#8217;t claim to be the expert in this field however I do know what needs to be on your website to ensure that it is effective.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">1. NO you do not have to spend $1000&#8242;s on a website for it to be effective.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">2. It is crucial that you have an opt in box.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">3. People don&#8217;t care  that you have the latest equipment and what your hobbies are.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">4. People care about what you can do for them.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">5. Know what your key words are and what people are searching for.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>I am coming across a lot of personal trainers at the moment questioning their circle of influence, what&#8217;s sad are some of the comments that is being said to people about their goals and the negativity associated with what they are wanting to achieve. Jim Rohn suggests asking yourself the following questions:</p>
<p>Who am I around?</p>
<p>What are they doing to me?</p>
<p>Where have they got me going?</p>
<p>What have they got me saying?</p>
<p>What have they got me reading?</p>
<p>Is that ok? Take each person and ask yourself those questions and I am not saying it isn&#8217;t ok but you need to check the people around you because this will determine where you end up.</p>
<p>When you do ask yourself those questions you will have 3 options:</p>
<p>1. Disassociate and keep your distance, learn how to say no to the wrong influence.</p>
<p>2. Limit &#8211; some people you can spend minutes with but not hours, other days but not weeks.</p>
<p>3. Expand &#8211; find people who you value and want to spend more time with to help shape where you end up.</p>

<div>Sitting in the Apple store the other day and  the experience I had was nothing short of WOW which left me thinking I need to buy a new Apple Mac (when I didn&#8217;t need one). I was in the store for 2 minutes when someone had come up, introduced themselves, even shook my hand  and  did everything possible to help me. The Apple team member actually somehow managed to fit me in, even though they were booked out for the next 4 days. I bet you can guess what I have been talking about all week, the Apple shop and how good it is, I am pretty sure I have been able to inspire a couple of people to go and visit!</div>
<div>Look what I have done, created a referral network within my circle for Apple and this free marketing cost Apple nothing but over the top service! This is a very simple strategy that every business needs to have big or small.</div>
<div>Question, what are you clients thinking about when they leave you? Are they just thinking how sore they are going to be for the next 3 days or how amazing you are as a trainer and how you do everything to help them achieve there goals?</div>
<div id="_mcePaste">The referral network is something we all as trainers know how important it is to have, but why do you spend so much time on fliers, you know how important it is to provide that wow service for your clients but why do you spend so much time on meeting new business. I want you to think about how much time you spend on attracting new clients and how much of that time and money is spent on external advertising? Just imagine what your clients would think of you if you used that time and money and invested into your clients instead of external marketing.</div>
<div>When you provide this wow experience for your clients and have them walking out of your studio thinking how amazing you are, your clients will be just like me when I walked out of the Apple shop telling everyone I know about how good it was. Take this challenge, go and work out how much time  and money you spend on external marketing an spend it on your clients for 2 weeks, just see  what happens.</div>

<p>Caught up with a client last week and the studio mentioned that they had previously dedicated hours if not days to their business plan however they haven&#8217;t looked at it because since they started so much has changed that it is not relevant anymore, should start calling them guessing plans then? Most people do a business plan before they start their business, how can you do that if you have never run a personal training business, you are making decisions before you have gone out there and done it!</p>
<p>Now I am not saying do not plan, you need to think about the future, what I am saying is do not obsess or spend days and days on doing it especially when you have very little clients and the bills are not getting paid. For some people not having a plan will freak them out but it you follow a plan that is so far stretched from reality you may be headed in the wrong direction.</p>
<p>Give up the guess work. Decide your action plan today and this week of what you are going to do to make yourself a more successful personal trainer. <p>Prospects who walk into your studio, gym, or pick up the phone and say “I’m ready to hire you! Where do I sign?” are unfortunately very rare! The point at which someone is ready to hire you as their personal trainer and hand over their money is just one end of what we call <strong>The Education Spectrum</strong>.</p>
<p>The Education Spectrum is a series of points from A to Z along which people move from uncertain prospects to confident buyers. It’s a foundation principle of the greatest marketing strategy of them all – Education Based Marketing.</p>
<p>At the beginning of this Spectrum is someone who has just started thinking about improving their fitness or health, or losing weight.  It’s just an idea at this point, they haven’t actually decided to hire a trainer, they just have a problem they need solving, or a goal they need help achieving.</p>
<p>In between these two points lies a whole bunch of fact-finding by the prospect. They’re going to be doing a lot of research, asking around, Googling, and comparing different personal trainers as they move towards making a decision.</p>
<p>The Education Spectrum is the line drawn between the prospect starting to think about their problem (Point A), and the prospect agreeing to hire you as their personal trainer (Point Z).<strong> </strong></p>

<p><strong>The Biggest Mistake Most PTs Make</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p>Here’s what you need to know right now. Most personal trainer marketing makes the wrong offer at the wrong time.</p>
<p>We try to make an offer designed for the prospect at Point Z to people who are only at Point A, or a little further along The Education Spectrum from Point A.</p>
<p>People at Point Z want their problem fixed, they already know they want a trainer, you let them know why you’re the best personal trainer for them, you make them a great offer, and they buy.</p>
<p>But this kind of offer only appeals to people at or near Point Z.</p>
<p>The bad news is that at any given time, only about 4% of your market are at or near Point Z.  You may be an awesome PT, you might have a brilliant offer, but if it’s the wrong offer for 96-99% of your market, people aren’t going to respond.</p>
<p>So how DO you appeal to everyone in your market? You use 2 different kinds of offer:</p>

<p>This type of offer is for people at Point Z: ready to buy from you. This is an offer you make face to face: after a comp session, or in a seminar.</p>
<p>These prospects already know you, like you, trust you and are ready to take action and book their first training session. You make them a great deal, and they sign up.</p>
<p>Most personal trainers try to make this kind of offer to everyone straight away, when in reality only a very small number of prospects will be responsive and ready to accept.</p>
<p><strong>Information Offers</strong></p>

<p>The most effective way to appeal to everyone from A to Z is to make an information offer.</p>
<p>This is when you offer a free report, eBook, a webinar, a DVD or a CD, or a free e-course: it’s a low risk piece of information that makes it easy for people to raise their hands and get started with you.</p>
<p>You make sure your information is fantastic quality, chockful of awesome content that your prospect can start to use NOW to solve their problem.</p>
<p>You’re building a relationship with them, developing trust and starting to move them along The Education Spectrum at a pace they’re comfortable with, until they’re ready to hire you as their personal trainer.</p>
<p>A whole bunch of people will respond to this, jump into your database and then you can start working with them to move them along the spectrum so when they are ready to buy, they hire YOU and not another personal trainer.</p>
<p><strong>Education Based Marketing 101</strong></p>

<p>The concept of The Education Spectrum is a key part of the Education Based Marketing Strategy. Those of you familiar with me will know that I’m a HUGE fan of this stuff! That’s because it works, because it bypasses having to hard-sell, and because it’s fun.</p>
<p>This is THE most effective marketing strategy bar none and here are 5 quick and easy steps to making it work in your personal trainer marketing right now:</p>

<li><strong>Think      Like Your Prospect</strong></li>

<p>Don’t think like the trainer. Don’t think like the marketer. Get inside your prospect’s head and figure out what’s really driving them, mentally and emotionally.</p>

<li><strong>Focus      On Their Problems And Goals</strong></li>

<p>Offer high quality problem-solving information on their biggest problems and/or goals and your marketing piece will get read. Prospects won’t ignore something that’s going to help them.</p>

<p>Give your prospect a low-risk, high-quality information offer first. This will get the best response because people don’t want to be sold to, and because most are not yet ready to work with you face to face for example in a comp session.</p>

<p>In your information offer (report, CD, eBook etc.) you’re going to show them why their problem is important and what they need to do to solve it, but you’re not going to give them everything they need to solve it. That’s where your personal training comes in.</p>

<li><strong>Make      It Easy To Respond</strong></li>

<p>People really don’t want to talk to a pushy sales person. You’ll get the best response to your marketing if you use a toll-free number (people are even put off by live phone numbers! If possible, use a 24 hour answering service), a fax and/or an opt in form on your website.</p>
<p>Make the right offer at the right time, and turn reluctant prospects into hungry and motivated training clients who happily throw money your way.</p>

<p>1. How to get new clients in the door.</p>
<p>2. How to increase and improve cash flow.</p>
<p>3. Ensuring that you are living the lifestyle you want.</p>
<p>4. Competition and how you become the go to fitness person in the area.</p>
<p>5. And a general I have no idea what action to take to grow my personal training business, please give me some direction!</p>
<p>My business coach has a great formula for success:</p>
<p><strong>If what you are doing now is working for you, then you are doing it the right way. If what you are doing now ISN&#8217;T working, then you are doing it the wrong way. Simple really!!</strong></p>
<p>Which is why I have been helping personal trainers all over Australia grow their PT Studio&#8217;s, they have decided that they have had enough of doing the same thing over and over and still not growing, hence their lifestyle and back pocket are suffering which equals more stress and that is where I come in to give them that guidance on what to do next.</p>
<p>When you do know how to generate more leads, convert more clients, get consistent cash flow the benefits of being in business is AMAZING and every single one of them say that there is no way they are ever going to work for someone else again! <p>You do not have to struggle, having a career in personal training is rewarding and so much fun, it should create your lifestyle to enable you to do what you want to do.</p>
