Are You A Personal Trainer who will Quit or be Successful?

I saw an interesting statistic recently 90% of people doing fitness programs will not be doing personal training in 12 months! Wow – which answers part of my question of where are all the trainers going.

So why is this percentage so high?  When a trainer finishes their qualifications they have great ambitions however as we know clients just don’t appear and doing it on your own is tough initially, dealing with rent, marketing, customer service and juggling bills and income and not to mention sales!

I’ve taught hundreds of people to become personal trainers and a common comment I heard from the successful trainers who are currently out there is that they did not have any other option they just had to make it work as a personal trainer! They had no plan B because it was either succeed or go under. Yes you do have to work your butt off initially and times can get extremely tough, seems as if there are lots of personal trainers out there that can’t handle tough times, quit and sadly go back to their old jobs.

Don’t let 2010 be the year that you go back to doing something you hate! Put steps in place now to ensure that you do make a successful trainer and enjoy the amazing lifestyle and ask for help if you get stuck!

Hey Kellie, I am about to possibly take a job in personal training. When starting out in my very first job, what can I expect? I want to work extremely hard without being pushy to get clients to sign up with me. I have an interview tomorrow morning and they told me if hired the first few months will be hard. Any advice you can give will be much appreciated. thanks,

    Brian
